[BR-Crater] Upper High Dry visit on Sunday

Two messages are quoted below... The first is a message I sent to the
AeroPAC members list, asking who wanted to come along for a short
excursion to Upper High Dry Lakebed, which looks like it will take
place on Sunday morning.
The second message is a reply from Charlie Wittman (who I see has now
subscribed to the br-crater list). He'll be there to launch his own
rockets. But he happens to be a geologist with impact crater experience.
So this is the best help we've been able to recruit yet for researching
the crater theory.
Others also expressed interest... Seth Wallace of AeroPAC and
John and Donna Ballard of AeroPAC and Stratofox.
Don't set expectations too high. I think we're only going to have a
couple hours at Upper High Dry because everyone will be at Black Rock
primarily for the rocket launch. So we'll have to get back before long.
But there will be at least two other visits to Black Rock this season.

I don't know if anyone will be interested... FYI just in case. I'm looking
for at least one additional high-clearance pickup or SUV to come along.

For anyone going to AeroPAC's Aeronaut launch at Black Rock next weekend...
It'll be my first time on the playa this year. I'd like to find anyone
who's interested to come along on an excursion up to Upper Hi-Dry lakebed
for a few hours at some point to search for evidence for the impact crater
theory. It's an area where one should not travel alone - I intend to
practice what I preach about safety up there.
I'd suggest this is mainly for anyone interested in the crater theory.
But just getting to see Upper Hi-Dry may be a good reason in itself.
I was thinking of early Sunday morning as one possibility. We can
figure out when to go when we know who's interested in coming.
We were going to go to Upper Hi-Dry as our second stop on Crater Assault 2
on June 2-3. But we had to turn back after visiting "Donut Basin", due to
thunderstorms and one of our party getting ill. So we went to Black Rock
and didn't get on the playa at all! Then I started my new job just after
that and had to begin to accrue time off from scratch.
So here's my first chance to go back to Upper Hi-Dry since the impact
crater theory came up last Winter. I'd like to do a quick hike in the
mountains east of Upper Hi-Dry to look for rocks with shatter cone
patterns in them. So far everything we've found (farther from the
center) hasn't been good enough to be convincing to experts yet. But
we also weren't even looking for them last time we were there.

I am new to aeropac and my first trip to blackrock. I am a registered
engineering geologist and have collected impact metamorphosed rocks at the
Sudbury Mines site, Kentland Indiana impact and rebound zone and meteor
Crater AZ as well as inspecting many shatter cones with cosite and
stishovite shock metamorphosed quartz. I have donated many shatter cones to
museums including the perfect ones from Kentland. I will be bringing a shock
metamorphosed quartzite shattercone sample which i have cut and use for a
sharpening stone. I will be in a 1971 Gmc PU, orange with a Lance camper on
it. Most there know me. I might consider a short trip depending on weather.
do you have a topographic map of the area and possibly a geologic map? I
will have my Brunton pocket transit with me.
