Steve and I got in touch on the phone about that yesterday.  The group
(Steve, Sam and I) will be leaving from San Jose in the early afternoon
today.  We'll stay overnight in Reno since otherwise it's too much driving
for one day, and too early in the season for camping on the playa.  Then
we'll meet up with Rich Loring (and perhaps anyone joining the expedition
at the last minute) at 7AM Sunday at the Save Mart at Prater and McCarran
in Sparks to set off for Black Rock.  It'll be just a day trip at Black
Rock.

I posted on the br-crater mail list some summary info about the crater
research aspect of this trip, for those who are interested.

Those of us returning to the Bay Area will have a complication with the
nightly I-80 closure between Colfax and Auburn from 7PM to 7AM.  The
alternate routes are SR70 via Quincy & Oroville, US50 via South Lake
Tahoe & Placerville and SR88 via Minden & Stockton.  All of us on the
trip will pick the route.
