For those who visit the Black Rock crater research IRC (Internet relay chat)
channel, please update your IRC client to use its new name.

The old name was #br-crater

The new name is ##br-crater

Yeah, it's pretty simple. Just add another #.

If you're trying it out for the first time, point your IRC client at
irc.us.freenode.net and subscribe to the ##br-crater channel. They have
answers to questions at http://freenode.net/faq.shtml

Why rename the channel? More details follow...

FreeNode.Org hosts the IRC discussion. The single-# names are now being
reserved for registered organizations under a new policy. I was asked by
FreeNode.Org staff to register the organization or rename the channel
like this.

The crater research isn't really an organization. And using Stratofox
as an umbrella doesn't fit with how we've done things.

Since not all Stratofox members are interested in rocks, we've always kept
this research at arm's length from Stratofox. (Stratofox members are invited
when there's a trip - but some might choose to come just to help with safety
preparedness or Black Rock familiarization training/exploration.) I thought
it would be best to keep the crater research at arm's length from Stratofox
as it has been.

So that meant renaming the channel. Then it fits their policy for how to
name discussions on topics which aren't attached to a registered organization.
